With the holiday season just around the corner, we have a wonderful opportunity to come together and ensure every family in our community experiences the warmth and joy of the holidays.
Starting Monday, Nov. 9, the Gladstone School District kicks off our annual Adopt-a-Family program — and every single toy or pantry item makes a real difference.
While all non-perishable goods are appreciated, we are especially in need of:
Quick family meals: Instant mac & cheese, canned soups, chili, peanut butter and jelly
Hearty staples: Bread, canned meats (tuna, chicken) and oatmeal
New, unwrapped toys for children of all ages
Drop off donations at our schools and community partners around town (by Friday, Dec. 4); look for the labeled donation bins at the front entrance of:
Gladstone Center for Children & Families
John Wetten Elementary
Kraxberger Middle School
Gladstone High School
Gladstone Civic Center
Gladstone Community Center
Gladstones Bar & Grill
Somerset Lodge
Coasters Brew Pub
Friendly School Competition: Gladstone Schools Nutrition Services Manager David “Chef Dave” Bitner is firing up the ovens! The grade level at each school that brings in the most donations will win a batch of his famous fresh-baked cookies.
Students who are members of the National Honor Society and GHS’s Associated Student Body will be sorting and packing boxes, but we need your help getting them to front doors. Deliveries take place the morning of Saturday, Dec. 19. If you would like to volunteer as a delivery driver and bring holiday cheer directly to local families, please reach out to shinaults@gladstone.k12.or.us.
A heartfelt thank you to our partners: This tradition wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support across Gladstone and Clackamas County: GSD school counselors, Clackamas Fire, Gladstone City Hall, Gladstone Police, Clackamas Bookshelf, Gladstone Oak Lodge Rotary, Kiwanis Club, Sunshine Division, Gladstones Bar & Grill, Coasters Brew Pub and Somerset Lodge.
Thank you for your generosity, for your community spirit and for helping make the season brighter for our neighbors!
