summer school at Kraxberger

Gladstone School District is grateful to the state for awarding a $232,000 grant for our Summer Learning programs.

For the summer of 2025, all four of Gladstone’s school buildings will have some students participating in a form of summer school. Gladstone’s summer programs will be free for students to participate in literacy-focused activities and will include free lunches for all students.

The Oregon Legislature has been working to address learning gaps due to the COVID-19 pandemic since 2021. This year they passed House Bill 2007, which specifically directs funding for school districts to focus on literacy in their summer programming.

After the passage of HB 2007, Gladstone School District submitted our application and was awarded the Summer Learning Grant on May 14. We then began making final plans for this great experience for our students.

On May 30 we began advertising and recruiting students to participate in our summer programs. Please reach out to your school if you are interested in having your child participate.

Be sure to apply as soon as possible, as space is limited and is expected to fill up quickly. Due to funding limits, we will have a cap on class size.
