Gladstone Superintendent Jeremiah Patterson has accepted a job as assistant superintendent of the Tigard-Tualatin School District, starting after spring break.
Patterson has served Gladstone as superintendent (since 2024), assistant superintendent (since 2016) and as John Wetten Elementary’s assistant principal (2006-08), when he took part in the planning of the Gladstone Center for Children & Families. His many years as a Gladstone schools administrator have focused on collaborative leadership, instructional improvement and strengthening partnerships with staff, families and the broader community.
“I treasure my time in Gladstone, and I will dearly miss all of the students, staff and community I have been blessed to know,” he said.
Patterson made his announcement the morning after the Gladstone School Board discussed a road map for the district’s long-term financial health. Following his announcement that he will be transitioning, the Gladstone School Board is actively seeking public input about interim superintendent qualities and qualifications.
If you’d like to speak to the board about the qualities and qualifications you’d like to see in our next superintendent, there’s a hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11. The meeting starting at 6 p.m. at the District Office, 17789 Webster Road, will include an update on the interim superintendent search process so far.
After hearing from citizens, staff and parents at 7 p.m., the school board is scheduled to adopt a timeline for selecting an interim superintendent, as well as adopting the board’s preferred qualities and qualifications for the position.
