In May 2025, voters will have the opportunity to consider a proposed measure to provide funding for Gladstone School District projects at all four of the public schools in the city.
The current property tax rate is $4.30 per $1,000 of assessed property value. If Measure 3-624 passes, the June 2025 to June 2027 estimated tax rate would be $4.30 per $1,000 of assessed property value. The June 2027 to June 2047 estimated tax rate would be $3.99 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
If passed, the owner of a $243,000 median assessed value home would pay $87.08 per month or $1,044.90 per year from 2025 to 2027. The cost would be $80.80 per month or $969.57 per year from June 2027 to June 2047, based on current assessed values. Actual assessed values would vary over time.
If passed, the measure would raise about $70 million from 2025 to 2047 to fund repairs to school roofs to prevent leaks and maintain building integrity. Other proposed projects would replace fire alarm panels to meet current Oregon Fire Code, along with replacing security systems, creating secure entry points for students and school staff, electrical panel upgrades, HVAC upgrades and boiler replacements.
If the measure does not pass, the proposed repair and security projects would not be completed and taxes would not be increased. The current levy expires in 2027.
The Gladstone School District successfully applied for other sources of funding the proposed school building projects. The state offers funds for school districts that pass a local general obligation bond. These funds come from the Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching Program.
Gladstone would receive an additional $6 million in matching funds from this state program if the proposed bond measure passes. If the proposed bond measure does not pass, the district would not receive the matching funds.
