This blood drive is open to students, staff, parents and other community members. Parental permission is required for all donations by 16-year-olds, but 17 and 18-year-old students do not need parental permission. We are closing schools on 1/12/24 three hours early. The dismissal time for each school is as follows: Gladstone Center for Children and Families 12:00 Wetten Elementary School 11:20 Kraxberger Middle School 12:10 Gladstone High School 12:00 This could change if the weather system moves in earlier in the day. We're sorry for the disruption an early release creates for families but we do want to make sure students and staff can get home safely. A sack lunch will be provided for students who normally choose a school provided lunch. All activities and events for Friday will be canceled, and extended day will be closed in the afternoon.

Foundation partners with district to conduct vision screenings Gladstone School District is partnering with the Oregon Sight and Hearing Foundation to conduct vision screenings at GCCF on Feb. 2 and JWE on Jan. 16 using a digital photo screener device called "Spot" to detect a number of potential eye conditions. Through these screenings, we are able to help catch vision issues early and support your student's educational journey. There is no cost to families whose children participate. If you do not want your child to participate in the screening, please contact the school nurse at utterbacke@gladsone.k12.or.us. If your student does not pass the screening, you will receive a letter in the mail with the results.

Statewide testing data released today shows that Gladstone School District students have improved about 9% in math and 6% in English language arts during the past school year. With scores up significantly from the previous year, Gladstone’s 11th-grade English language arts students exceeded the state average by 11.5%. Wetten third graders improved about 8% in math, where they exceeded the state average by 22%. Our third graders now are also over 10% above the state average for English language arts, through their hard work in this area in partnership with community members. Visit https://5il.co/25khw to read a special message from Superintendent Bob Stewart about what the latest assessment data means for Gladstone.
