Voters in the Gladstone School District have approved the passage of the district’s $55.3 million bond measure, Measure 3-644, with unofficial results of more than 60% in favor of safety measures for our local students.
Our district and Board of Directors would like to thank the voters for their participation during this November election.
The passage of this bond is truly a win-win for our community. The new measure will result in a lower tax rate than the district’s previous general obligation bond AND our district will be able to make critical repairs to our schools, preserving the community’s investments for years to come.
It has been 20 years since the district has successfully passed a bond so this bond truly will make meaningful change for our entire school community.
We want to thank the many volunteers, staff, students and community members who volunteered their time to the bond campaign.
These volunteers gave up their evenings, weekends, and time with their families to rally together for our schools. We are forever grateful to them. Their actions will leave a lasting impression on generations of students to come. We couldn't have done this without the support of the Save Gladstone Schools PAC, plus crucial help from OSEA and the Gladstone Teachers Association.
This bond was a culmination of many years of community insight, feedback, and planning to ensure our schools are healthy, safe, and updated to meet the needs of our community.
We’ll soon issue a Request for Proposals to hire an owner’s representative to manage qualified architects, construction contractors and other professionals. This process will ensure we select the best team to help us achieve quality and efficiency as we bring these improvements to life.
The district will proceed with the sale of the bonds over the coming months and once bond proceeds are received, will begin the projects approved by the voters.
In our commitment to transparency and accountability, we are establishing an independent Bond Oversight Committee. This committee of community members will oversee bond expenditures to ensure that funds are used wisely and in alignment with the goals of the bond. If you’re interested in contributing to this committee, the application and information will soon be posted to our website.
