In August, Gladstone certified staff engaged in aligned professional development across the district, building shared language and common practices around student learning. It was great to see teachers working together to deepen their understanding of language demands, student engagement, and Oregon English Language Proficiency Standard 2, while making connections to the work they already do every day.
There was great energy in seeing teams reflect, collaborate and consider how intentionally naming the language students need can strengthen instruction for all learners. This kind of districtwide alignment helps create consistency from classroom to classroom and reinforces the idea that every student is our student.
