Gladstone High School is excited to introduce Brian Ruby as our new head wrestling coach.

Ruby’s vision is to build a wrestling program where young people become the very best versions of themselves—and to build something that truly belongs to the Gladstone community.

“Gladstone has a proud wrestling history, and I would love to reconnect with that tradition while creating something for the next generation,” Ruby said. “We want our wrestling room to be a place where boys and girls learn perseverance, humility, courage and accountability, but also a place where kids and families feel that they belong.”

Part of Ruby’s vision extends beyond GHS. He and his wife, Megan (who plans to work alongside him as an assistant coach) are developing the Gladstone Wrestling Club, which will give high school wrestlers additional opportunities to compete and develop year-round. Through the club, younger wrestlers would have an opportunity to learn the sport. The Rubys hope to create a strong connection between youth wrestling and GHS and a pathway that keeps kids involved in the sport as they grow.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for alumni, families, businesses and members of the Gladstone community to become involved—whether that's sharing a story, attending a match, helping with an event, supporting the club or simply becoming part of the Gladstone wrestling family,” Ruby said.

If you see the Rubys at a football game, school event or somewhere around Gladstone, come introduce yourself. They would genuinely love to meet you and hear about your connection to this community. You can email Ruby here.

“We're excited about what Gladstone wrestling can become, and we're excited to build it together,” Ruby said.
