John Wetten Elementary students recently got to take field trips to the Environmental Learning Center at Clackamas Community College.
Students explored how macroinvertebrates (baby bugs) can be bioindicators of water health, learned about watersheds and how types of soil affect clean water, tested the pH level of pond water and also assessed the water quality through measurements of wetland water temperature.
During another exercise, while quietly observing nature, students journaled their reflections and saw ducks, ducklings, bullfrogs, dragonflies, turtles, leeches and more.
