kindergarten family

We had a great time welcoming new first-grade families to John Wetten Elementary. While these students are currently kindergarteners at Gladstone Center for Children & Families, they're about ready to move up to a larger building with even more opportunities to get mentored by older students.

During a recent Rise to First Grade event, JWE Principal Jammie Landis discussed how the schedule and routines for first graders won't change much from what they're used to at GCCF. Every one of JWE's first-grade teachers have experience at GCCF, so they're familiar with all the developmental stages of this age group.

A day in the life of a JWE first-grade student includes instruction in reading, writing, math, art, science, health, music, innovation and PE. In between there's time for recess, snacks, lunch, discovery time and helping classmates to clean up.
