portion of site near kraxberger

Gladstone School District has received good news regarding its Roadmap toward a bright financial future. The district has entered into a binding agreement with a prospective buyer to purchase the surplus land near Kraxberger Middle School. The district may now only have to pass a bond measure in November to stabilize school funding for Gladstone’s next generation of students. This binding agreement is prompting the buyer to have work performed.

Citizens may recall how the district announced in February that Gladstone school officials would both have to sell property and pass a bond by early 2027 to avoid further reductions. The school district identified a path forward by declaring as surplus two portions of district property.

Now that a potential buyer has signed a binding agreement to consider purchasing the Webster Road site (this includes soil sampling and surveying) the school district is at this time pausing action on the surplus property near John Wetten Elementary.

You may see construction crews at Kraxberger in the next couple of weeks taking soil samples and performing measurements as part of the potential buyer’s process. The zoning for this property allows for low-density residential housing consistent with the surrounding neighborhoods.
