Gladstone High School is welcoming Jeff Miller as our new volleyball coach.
Miller brings GHS a wealth of experience from being assistant coach for varsity volleyball at Corbett High School among other coaching positions over the past 18 years. Since accepting the GHS coaching position, Miller said he already feels a strong sense of loyalty and pride in the Gladstone community.
Miller has served as head coach of JV teams at Corbett over the years. During the last six years, he's been honored to serve as a head coach, assistant coach and private trainer at the Athena Volleyball Academy, a premiere juniors volleyball club in Oregon.
“My goal in coaching is to help athletes eliminate the mental and physical barriers that get in the way of their goals,” Miller said.
Miller is soon retiring from his career as a police officer for the city of Gresham. Since joining the police department 25 years ago, he has served as a school resource officer and lieutenant, among many other public safety roles. He also worked as a police officer in The Dalles from 1996-2000.
Miller’s interest in law enforcement started when he joined The Dalles Police Department's Police Explorer program in 1988. While seeking his degree from then Western Oregon State College, he became a reserve police officer alongside his father, Chuck Miller.
Miller’s interest in coaching volleyball began during his college experience in 1995, while working as a team assistant for the Western Oregon State College Volleyball Program with Coach Judy Lovre.
Miller will celebrate his 20-year anniversary with his wife, Rachael, this September. The couple has four children; Blake, Jacen, Greta and Grace.
