Gladstone High School’s Ben Hargrave, who joined GHS’s teaching staff in 2023 after leading Estacada Middle School for six years, will become the next principal of Kraxberger Middle School.
During the past two school years at GHS, Hargrave has taught senior seminar, as well as Spanish at all levels, while serving as an active leader in Gladstone faculty’s leadership, tier and equity teams. Starting July 1, he will assume leadership at Kraxberger to replace Heather Bailey, who accepted the principal’s position at Bend’s High Desert Middle School in the coming school year.
Hargrave believes in developing schoolwide systems and mindsets so all students can learn together. He has achieved this goal by establishing and promoting research-based, data-driven procedures to increase staff capacity to know all student names and needs. He is committed to innovating systems that promote the learning for each student and values students’ strengths and stories.
“I am honored to serve the students in the community in which I live. I am eager to build relationships with students, families and staff,” Hargrave said upon accepting the position at Kraxberger.
Hargrave earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lewis and Clark College, and received his bachelor’s degree in Spanish and education from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.
