Gladstone Superintendent Jeremiah Patterson is pleased to announce that Regina Sampson has been hired as new director of finance for the school district.
Sampson has 30 years of accounting experience encompassing both public and private accounting, along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from East Central University in Oklahoma and a master’s degree in business administration from Eastern Oregon University.
Sampson will be replacing Rachel Lopez Hopper, who was recently hired by a nearby school district. Sampson said she’s looking forward to helping Gladstone during the next chapter of her career.
“I am looking for a team, one that wants to grow together as well as willing to collaborate in the best interest of the district,” she said.
Since 2009, Sampson has served as a leader in accounting for educational institutions, including Columbia Gorge Community College, Reynolds School District and Corbett School District. As the chief financial officer for the Baker School District, she managed a $106 million budget, including state revenue, property tax receivable and deferral reconciliations, state and federal grant accounting, PERS and retiree accounting, liability management and internal audits across the district. Her additional responsibilities included overseeing food services, maintenance and information technology.
After completing a three-year program called the New Business Managers Institute with the Oregon Association of School Business Officials, she passed the School Finance Office exam and became Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations in 2019.
