John Wetten Elementary

Approximately 683 students are enrolled at John Wetten in grades one through five. Students are served in self-contained classrooms, and receive additional instruction in music, physical education, library and computers.

The elementary school has a long standing supportive relationship with its community. Parents often tell staff that they have moved to Gladstone because of the reputation for strong academics. John Wetten has an active Parent/Faculty Organization, which supports the school’s academic programs and coordinates extracurricular activities.

John Wetten’s staff consists of outstanding educators who are dedicated to the educational needs of our students. Many innovations such as design technology, whole language, student-involved conferencing, student-developed scoring guides, and numerous experiential learning activities are utilized by its staff. Students at John Wetten have an excellent reputation for achieving the CIM benchmark at third grade, thus receiving high marks from the Oregon State Department of Education.

Teachers at John Wetten are a dedicated and enthusiastic group who support the developmental needs of the young school-age child.
